ঢাকা-চট্টগ্রাম মহাসড়কের শিমরাইল মোড়ে পণ্যবাহী ট্রাক ও যাত্রীবাহী দূরপাল্লার বাস থেকে নিয়মিত জোরপূর্বক চাঁদা আদায়ের অভিযোগে সিদ্ধিরগঞ্জ থানায় অভিযান চালায় আইনশৃঙ্খলা রক্ষাকারী বাহিনী। পরিবহন শ্রমিকদের অভিযোগের ভিত্তিতে চাঁদা আদায়ের সাথে জড়িত প্রভাবশালীদের আটক করে ৩০ দিনের বিশেষ আটকাদেশে কারাগারে পাঠানো হয়।
